How do you change the serpentine belt on a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville?

I would like step by step directions. It is a 3.8 L without a supercharger.
How do you change the serpentine belt on a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville?
Before beginning, make sure you know how the belt is routed around all of the pulleys. There is usually a picture of it somewhere under the hood. After you are sure of how it is routed in, install a wrench of the tensioner which is one of the pulleys in the belt area. This one moves a lot when running if you are not sure as it is spring loaded. Twist it counter clockwise to release the tension and slip the belt off. Route the new belt around all the pulleys except for the last one which is preferably the high point like the alternator. Then install your wrench on the tensioner again and twist it CC again and hold it there. Slip the belt over the last pulley and release the tensioner. Done. Good luck.

when you open the hood there's a sticker out there that shows the diagram of it,those aren't hard to change but go by the diagram and make sure it gets on all the pulleys real good, other wise it will ruin the new belt, you have to release the tension on the belt to get it off, good luck with it.
My Pontiac has a diagram under the hood. If your's doesn't, search the web for one and make sure you buy a GM belt. An aftermarket will squeal like a pig!
thesev systens are spring loaded look for belt tensioner should have a little hole for 3/8 or1/2 ratchet or might have a fitting for wrench unload spring and belt is off just dont forget how it goes on
There is a spring loaded pulley at the top of the engine. The purpose is to maintain the tension in the belt. Push the pulley back, release the tension on the belt, then slip it off. you can either visualize how the belt goes on, or follow the directions on the back of the package for your new belt. Do everything in reverse, the tension pulley being the last area to slip the belt over. Spray that pulley with a little WD-40. The belt will be extremely tight, this will help slip the belt over the pully.
All of these answers are correct. For step by step info, just for your added benefit, go to http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/ and check out the tech forum. Its all there. Good luck!
