How do I change my serpentine belt for a 1997 pontiac firebird?
i just had to do this on my car because the idler pully was squeeking like there was no tomorrow replace both belts at the same time for good measure since it cheap just loosen one of the pulleys and slide it around buy the belt and they tighten it back up tourque it to spec and you are finethe diagram is on the front fender drivers side and its a sticker

The belt routing diagram should be posted somewhere conspicuously in your engine bay. My '89 Camaro has it on the radiator shroud.
Using a 9/16(I think) on the belt tensioner assemably bolt, turn it the left(facing the engine). In order, to release the pressure applied on the belt. Just be sure you know (or have that diagram handie) how the belt goes back on. Once you release the pressure w/ the tensioner(which requires some muscle) the belt will just fall off.
