Question about Saturn L300 Electrical Problem?

While driving the car, engine cut-off. When the engine stopped, the oil light and battery light went on. I pulled off the road, then was able to re-start it on first try.

Next morning, took short trip and the car did not start on first try (started on second try). The car cranks over well, just didn't start. So I was thinking good battery. Bad alternator or loose belts? I had taken it to a dealer for an oil change a couple of weeks ago and they commented that I needed to think about changing the serpentine belt b/c it had some wear. I am now wondering if they loosened the belt tension when checking? Ideas?

Why did you think that based on what you said? The alternator doesn't help your car start other than it charges the battery, which helps your car start. So it can be the battery, too.

I'd change the belt if it needs it, but it's unlikely that a bad belt would cause the alternator to not run as well, especially if you're not hearing other noises to indicate the belt is slipping.

Get the battery and alternator checked and go from there. It's usually done in the same test.
